LAVA STONE TABLE
Our tables are made following specific processing techniques that are the result of a long experience in the sector. Lava stone is a basaltic rock coming from the most selected quarries on the slopes of Etna, treated and worked with the same procedures as glazed ceramics, but with the advantage of obtaining large slabs (up to 59”x110” per single piece).
These sizes could never be achieved using traditional ceramics from clay. Lava is a natural material that is resistant to frost, thermal shock and sun UV rays.
Lava decorated with special techniques and glazes, is ideal for tabletops, consoles, bathrooms and kitchens’ sinks, and interior and exterior floors and walls.
• The boulders extracted from the quarry are cut in slabs of different thicknesses.
• The slabs are processed and finished by marble workers in the shapes and sizes requested by the customer.
• The semi-finished raw material is glazed using white and colored ceramic glazes.
• Once glazed and dried, the lava stone can be decorated manually or with other decorative techniques.
• After being glazed and decorated, the pieces are put in the kiln and cooked at a temperature of 1000 ° C.
The final result of the above-mentioned artisanal production process is a valuable product with unique characteristics.
